Introduction of Frontier Metal Forming Research and Development Center
Mold and die (M&D) are the key components of industry, and M&D research has always been a characteristic field for the development of our university.
As a result, the university's "Frontier Mold and Die Technology Research and Development Center" was selected as the first-phase of The Featured Areas Research Center Program within the framework of the Higher Education Sprout Project. The recent inventory has a world-class competitive advantage and development characteristics, and integrated the "Taiwan Advanced Material Forming Technology Center" in stamping field established by the Executive Yuan in our university.
Therefore, that center is revised as "Frontier Metal Forming Technology Research and Development Center", applied for the second-phase of The Featured Areas Research Center Program within the framework of the Higher Education Sprout Project. Engaged in world-class metal forming talent cultivation and technology development, and continues to compete and cooperate with the Center of advanced and smart die Engineering Technology, Gifu University, Japan (the international benchmarking research center) to help the industry enhance its international competitiveness.
The research field promoted by the center covers five core frontier technologies of metal forming, including digitalization of products and M&Ds, forging forming and molds, stamping forming and equipment, metal materials and processing, and smart management and manufacturing:
1. Product and M&D digitization: deepen the cloud design system for customized products, and computer-aided integration technology for products and M&Ds; research and develop rubber pad forming equipment design and analysis technology, and smart stamping forming analysis and decision-making system; establish "Product and M&D Digitization Development Industry-Academic Alliance" accelerates the digital transformation of domestic industries.
2. Forging forming and molds: Continue to combine the "National Armament Self-built" and the operation of the "National Defense Key Metal Parts and Components R&D Base", and its products all meet military quality standards. Deepen precision net shape forging technology; research and develop difficult-to-shape material powder forging molding technology, smart measurement and mold adjustment system and automatic welding repair system for mold damage.
3. Stamping forming and equipment: combine the "National Aircraft Self-built" and the operation of the "Aviation Parts Manufacturing Industry-Academic Alliance", and AS9100 digital certification of aviation industry quality management system. Deepen servo punch forming and die technology; Research and develop next-generation servo punch and its smart control technology, next-generation automotive 7XXX aluminum alloy forming and die technology, and medical metal product stamping and forging complex technology.
4. Metal materials and processing: Deepen the smart material characteristic prediction system; Research and develop metal medical parts and M&D surface treatment technology, metal lamination post-processing technology and M&D high-speed five-axis grinding processing technology; Cooperate with local medical equipment companies and medical research units to establish a core technology development base for metal medical material manufacturing and surface treatment.
5. Smart management and manufacturing: deepen the smart industry 4.0-oriented production scheduling system and smart punching and forging production line monitoring system; Apply metaverse to accelerate the integration of software and hardware into smart manufacturing systems; Research and develop equipment power system energy-saving and carbon reduction technologies; Build the first green metal forming demonstration factory.
